But one thing is clear: China's people have a generally positive view of the United States and Americans. They see no conflict in emulating American and European fashions and trends while preserving their unique and ancient culture and values.
The Chinese government is attempting to succeed where others have failed. The government wants to unleash market forces - capitalism - while holding on to a firm and sometimes authoritarian grip. Can China succeed?
